Must read

Fans are getting excited for the 2023 NFL Schedule Release, and that excitement grew on Wednesday with the announcement of five European NFL games in the 2023 season.

Although there won’t be an international game in Mexico this season, due to work at the Estadio Azteca, there will be a record five Europe-based clashes, with three in London and two in Germany.

Following the success of the duel between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks in Munich last season, Germany now has two fixtures this year, both being held in Munich.

How many NFL games will be played in Europe in 2023?

There will be five total international games this NFL season, all of them in Europe, with three in England and two in Germany.

  • Week 4, October 1: Falcons vs Jaguars at Wembley Stadium, London.
  • Week 5, October 8: Jaguars vs Bills at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London.
  • Week 6, October 15: Ravens vs Titans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London.
  • Week 9, November 5: Dolphins vs Chiefs at Frankfurt Stadium, Germany.
  • Week 10, November 12: Colts vs Patriots at Frankfurt Stadium, Germany.

Why is the NFL playing in Europe?

The NFL has long played overseas and the London and European games have become a fixture on the calendar ever since Miami Dolphins vs New York Giants at Wembley Stadium back in 2007.

“In what promises to be a great spectacle of football for our global fans, we are thrilled to announce the five games to be played internationally in 2023, a record number of regular season games in Europe in a season,” stated the NFL’s Executive Vice President of Club Business, Major Events and International, Peter O’Reilly.

“We are excited to bring three games to London once again, a city with a huge love for the sport and a passionate fan base across the UK.

“We are also pleased to confirm that the two games in Germany will be played in Frankfurt, a city steeped in NFL heritage.

“We look forward to staging both games at Eintracht Frankfurt’s Stadium, building on the incredible atmosphere experienced at last season’s game in Munich.”
