Hornchurch Cricket Club accomplished an extraordinary feat last week by clinching the European championship in Spain, triumphing over Jersey’s Old Victorians in an exhilarating final at the Cartama Oval. Despite facing the absence of their injured captain, Billy Gordon, the team united under the leadership of Marc Whitlock, guiding them to glorious victory.
The club’s recent string of successes includes remarkable triumphs in various competitions such as the Treble, League Cup, T20 Essex Championship, Conference Cup, National T20 Cup, and now the prestigious European championship.
While Hornchurch has celebrated victories in the past, their sights are now set on claiming the National 40-over Cup, an achievement that has eluded them thus far. Club chairman Jeremy West commended the team’s dedication and acknowledged the fantastic support from fans.
The journey to victory was marked by stellar performances, notably in a tense showdown with defending champions Dreux. Contributions from standout players like Mohammad Irfan and Harry Hankins were pivotal in securing the decisive win against Old Victorians in the final match.
