Sunday’s Football Tips: Party time for Atalanta as Fiorentina lick their Euro wounds

Must read

THERE will be a party atmosphere in Bergamo today as Europa League winners Atalanta bring the curtain down on a memorable season with their final Serie A fixture.

But while Gian Piero Gasperini’s men are still basking in the glory of lifting the club’s first European trophy, the wounds of a second successive Conference League near miss remain raw for Fiorentina.

Wednesday’s extra-time loss to Olympiakos in Athens was cruel on Vincenzo Italiano’s men, although I wasn’t shedding too many tears having backed the Greeks to win.

Fiorentina’s players would have wanted the season to end when the full-time whistle blew so it’s hard to see them rousing themselves for this final Serie A match.

Atalanta vs Fiorentina Top Betting Tips

With Fioretina coming off the back of a devastating midweek loss it’s no surprise to see them as 21/4 outsiders with Bet365. Atalanta are just 9/20 but backing them to be winning at half-time and full-time boosts the odds to 6/5.

Nothing is at stake in this game with the European places for next term already decided. Although Atalanta games are usually pretty exciting this match could easily fizzle out so I’m going to bet against BTTS at 21/20.

Teun Koopmeiners has chipped in with 12 goals and five assists this term and the Dutchman is evens to either set up one or score today.

Genk vs Gent Top Tips

The Belgian season comes to an end today as well with Genk and Gent slugging it out for a Conference League slot in their play-off final.

Genk have home advantage as the team finishing higher in the table but have lost five of their last six games up against the big boys in the Champions Play-Offs.

Today’s opponents are in much better form, with Gent winning eight of their 10 games in the middle section after the league split in three. That makes backing Gent at 7/4 a decent shout as they have all the momentum.

Both meetings in the regular season ended in draws and it finished 2-2 when the teams faced off in Genk. The half-time draw looks good at 13/10 while backing most goals to come after the break pays 20/21.

Haugesund vs Bodo/Glimt Top Tips

There’s almost a full card in Norway’s top flight and champions Bodo/Glimt will be looking to bounce back with a win at Haugeslund after dropping points in their last three games.

That slump has allowed Brann to replace them at the top, with last night’s win at Ham Kam sending them three points clear.

Haugesund sit ninth but are in decent form, having won their last two at home. Despite that, Bet365 make them 15/4 outsiders with a win for Bodo/Glimt priced just 8/13.

Going for goals looks the best option and combining BTTS with over 2.5 strikes pays 20/21.

Midfielder Albert Gronbaek has eight goals from 11 games for Bodo this term and is on the penalties. So he looks decent value at 2/1 for anytime scorer.
