Daytime Europe-bound flights are pretty few and far between. Using Cirium to analyze all scheduled non-stop flights from the US/Canada to Europe in August shows that they account for just 1.8% of the total.

The schedule’s lack of popularity is due to many reasons. Among them is the length of haul, insufficient point-to-point demand, lack of aircraft use (most have to remain overnight at one end of the route), and probably lower yields from less interest in beds. However, from a passenger’s perspective, they can help with jetlag.

The following enormous table summarizes the 23 services. Several are new for 2024, while others operate during the day for the first time, such as some of Azores Airlines’ flights from New York JFK back to Funchal, Madeira.

It is the airline’s second attempt at daytime transatlantic service.

Notice that 10 of the 23 routes are by Azores Airlines. Despite being a narrowbody operator, nine airport pairs will be on wet-leased widebody aircraft: the A330-200 from Plus Ultra and the Boeing 767-300ER from EuroAtlantic. For some routes, the situation appears partly due to a lack of crew rest areas on Azores Airlines’ narrowbodies.
