The countdown is on for Euro 2024 this summer – where the best and biggest names in European football will face off.
Scotland will kick off the European Championships against hosts Germany in Munich on June 14 – and from there the football just won’t stop for a mammoth month of blockbuster showdowns as some of the top names in the game go head-to-head.
Eyes across the continent will be glued to their TV screens while plenty more supporters will be packed in stadiums across Germany to catch a glimpse of some of the superstars that are gracing the tournament. Some will be looking to bring the curtain down on their careers with another accolade while others are looking for their first European championship win.
But who are the biggest names on show? We have it all covered from Cristiano Ronaldo to Virgil van Dijk and everyone in between.

The 35-year-old still managed to rack up 28 goals for Barcelona during a disappointing campaign for Barcelona – and will be keen to net a few more to help his nation overcome the Netherlands, France and Austria in the group.

The centre-back will have a tough job handling France and their array of attacking talent in the group stage – but if one man is up to it then it’s Virgil van Dijk. The Liverpool star will be looking to build a run of clean sheets to help the Dutch go deep in the tournament.

Known by many as a striker – the Atletico Madrid man tends to pull the stings in midfield when on international duty. After being a runner-up at the World Cup in 2022 it’s all eyes on European glory for the superstar.

The Napoli star was a key player 12 months ago as his club lifted the Serie A title – and while their defence of the title didn’t amount too much he is still highly regarded for both club and country. Dubbed ‘Kvaradona’ he will be key to Georgia making any impact on the tournament.

He may be playing his football in Saudi, but the star power of Cristiano Ronaldo just doesn’t seem to diminish. It’s likely to be the final time we see him at a major tournament – and the 39-year-old will only want to sign off with a winners medal.

Donnarumma is widely considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world and was the hero for Italy in the previous Euros as he helped them to a penalty shootout win over England at Wembley. The PSG number one may have to be in top form again if the European champions are to keep their crown.

And we couldn’t round off the list without our own superstar, could we? Nicknamed ‘McSauce’ by Scots, the Manchester United man netted seven goals in qualifying to send The Tartan Army to the tournament – and hopefully a few more are on the way.
