A Greater Manchester dining spot has been named amongst the best restaurants in Europe in a prestigious dining guide.

While chef Rasmus Munk’s Copenhagen-based restaurant Alchemist took the number one spot on the list, here in the UK, Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume was voted the best restaurant in the UK.

Opinionated About Dining (OAD), a leading source of global restaurant rankings, has announced its 2024 Top European Restaurants List featuring a number of UK restaurants. There are 555 restaurants listed in the 2024 Top European Restaurants List and 93 of those are in the UK.

The only Manchester restaurant to make the cut is mana, the city’s acclaimed Michelin-starred restaurant. It ranks around mid table at 263, while L’Enclume in Cumbria landed at number 20 in the European list, with Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck restaurant at number 37.

Run by chef patron Simon Martin, mana is Manchester’s only Michelin Star venue. The Ancoats dining spot has held the Michelin Star since 2019, becoming the first Manchester city centre restaurant to do so since the 1970s.

Chef patron Simon Martin announced last year that they were reducing the price of their acclaimed multi-course menus in a bid to make the venue “more accessible” to diners, from £195 down to £175. And in April this year, he announced another £10 would be coming off.

Other UK restaurants to feature on the prestigious list include chef Rafael Cagali’s Da Terra restaurant, Ikoyi, KOL, Kitchen Table and Aulis – all located in the capital. Across the rest of the UK, Ynyshir Hall in Wales also placed as did Moor Hall in Aughton, the latter of which holds two Michelin Stars and is run by head chef Mark Birchall.
