Chess, visualisation & self-help books – Gordonpublished at 11:18

I wonder if Anthony Gordon was discussing his love of chess, self-help books and boxing with England team-mate Cole Palmer in the picture from the earlier post.

Gordon, 23, sat down with BBC Radio 5 Live’s Steve Crossman for the latest episode of the Football Daily at the Euros podcast.

His insight into so many areas of his life inside and outside of football was fascinating.

For example, Gordon explained his use of is one of manifestation and visualisation – listing off goals and targets he wants to become reality.

“Sometimes
I do it in the morning and visualise who I want to be for that day,” said the England and Newcastle winger.

“It’s just about setting your intentions to who you want to
be and it allows you to do that a lot easier.

“We’re all naturally very emotional and when you’re
emotional you tend to make bad decisions. It’s trying to come away from those
emotions and trying to see the bigger picture.”
