EuroLeague Final Four 2024: Title game preview

Real Madrid v Panathinaikos

Real Madrid’s 21st final will see them battle for their 12th EuroLeague title, and a true team effort for the Spanish club in the semis got them into the title game.

Dzanan Musa (pictured) top scored on Friday, and they’ll look to all-EuroLeague First Team selection Facundo Campazzo to pull the strings once again. The Argentina international, a three-time Olympian one of many competing in Berlin who hope to line up at Paris 2024, is eyeing his third EuroLeague title. Fellow Argentine Gabriel Deck misses out through a knee injury, having starred in a regular season where the team from the capital of Spain won a record 27 games.

Athens side Panathinaikos have won this title six times previously, but are in the Final Four for their first appearance in 12 years. The semi-final win over Fenerbahce followed up a fine regular season that saw them pick up 23 wins and 11 losses.

Such was the impressive nature of their campaign, star players Kendrick Nunn and Mathias Lessort were both named in the all-EuroLeague First Team.

“Job’s not done,” Panathinaikos player Kostas Antetokounmpo said to his brother Giannis, as the two NBA champions discussed the game for EuroLeague media.

Despite boasting 17 European Cups between them, Real and Pana have never met in the final previously.
