Much loved Irish driving route named ‘Europe’s most scenic’ by travel experts

A beloved driving route in County Galway has been crowned the most scenic drive in Europe by a panel of travel experts, according to Galway Beo. The Inagh Valley road, located in Connemara on the Wild Atlantic Way, outshone competition from routes in Scotland, Italy, England, Romania, Germany, and France.

The travel aficionados were captivated by the stunning natural beauty displayed along the R344 road. The sixteen-mile stretch of road meanders along the banks and shores of Lough Inagh. The beautiful Connemara region is also touted as the perfect spot for a picnic or a photo opportunity.

Pine Island, a renowned Irish landmark in Derryclare Lough, close to Clifden, the capital town of Connemara, received a special mention. They depicted the island as a “picture-perfect island of pine trees.”

Inagh Valley has been ranked higher than other “stunning,” routes like France’s Col de la Machine and Italy’s Chiantigiana, which links Florence to Siena.
