NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old British man caused a disturbance on an easyJet flight from London’s Gatwick Airport to Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez in southern Spain on Thursday.
According to Spanish news outlet informacion.es, the man, who was not identified, boarded the plane intoxicated and became increasingly inebriated due to “altitude.”
The man’s aggressive behaviour led to a physical altercation with other passengers. When crew members intervened to de-escalate the situation, the man allegedly assaulted them as well, forcing the staff to physically restrain him.
As the aircraft approached its destination, the intoxicated passenger, apparently unaware that the plane was still airborne, attempted “to get off quicker” by trying to open an airplane door.
The pilot alerted the control tower and reported the incident to Civil Guard officers upon landing.
The man was subsequently arrested, although the specific charges he faces remain unclear as of Friday.
