Urban Fitness’ state-of-the-art gyms promises to get customers fit by using the latest and greatest fitness equipment, evidence based workout programmes and group exercise classes – but equally as important was creating the right ambience to allow people to be motivated to lose the weight and tone up their bodies.
To get the right ambience, the new health club chain, co-founded by former Shokk CEO Johnathan Williams and Charles Tantram, turned to Lite House Europe to provide a range of light fixtures to offer a contemporary wall grazing lighting solution to add to the immersive experience of sound to light technology.
The debut site, Urban Fitness Sugar House, opened last month near Aldgate station. The gym offers a breadth of fitness programmes covering ‘Get Active,’ healthy eating, functional training, muscle strength, sport specific fitness, martial arts and boxing, ante/post natal and kettle bells as well as a range of in-house group exercise classes.
The Sugar House, a Grade 2 Listed building and former Tea Warehouse retains many of its original features. It was important to use the feature lighting to highlight the features of the building, identify zoning areas within the gym and make use of the sound to light technology provided by amBX technologies.
Headed up by managing director Peter Sargent, Lite House Europe selected d-led’s LED ‘Channel 4’ linear fixtures and QT Spots, coupled with amBX ambience mood controls that change in time with the beat, keeping the energy positively flowing.
With the LED lighting installed, the gym zones can be independently controlled and brought to life with lighting effects adding intensity and high impact effects controlled by sound. Complete control of this incredible range of lighting is provided literally at the touch of a button via an easy to use interface on an iPad, a wall mounted touchscreen or control panels.
