Roger Federer could open the door to a future as a tennis coach

Must read

Roger Federer could soon fully return to the world of tennis, as the new captain of Team Europe, at the Laver Cup. A dream that can become reality, both for the Swiss Maestro and for all his fans. The sixth edition of the Laver Cup began on Friday 22nd September and ends on Sunday 24th.

This year, Team Europe faced off against Team World in the splendid setting of Rogers Arena in Vancouver and, to prevail, it was Team World with the landslide victory of 13-2.

Since the first edition played in 2017, the Laver Cup has collected 4 consecutive victories for Team Europe and 2 victories for Team World (in 2022 and 2023).

The feeling is that without any of the Big Four, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray, the team lacks that point of perfect cohesion, of divine inspiration capable of overturning any result.

Federer could open the door to a future as a tennis coach

Or, it’s just the lack of four great tennis players who in the same team made Europe and even the whole world dream.

Speaking of the 2023 Laver Cup, journalist Barbara Schett asked Roger Federer which team he would like to see in the next edition and the former tennis player’s response was: “Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.” Apart from these, Federer also mentioned the importance of Alexander Zverev being able to compete in front of the crowd alongside others like Holger Rune, Stefanos Tsitsipas or Daniil Medvedev.

Seeing Roger Federer captain a Team Europe made up of Djokovic and Alcaraz would be a dream for all the millions of tennis fans around the planet. A completion of a masterful circle, with Roger who could finally take on the mantle of Maestro and who could, why not, open the doors to his future as a tennis super-coach.

The Swiss Maesto would have everything needed to guide a young tennis player towards success, towards perfection. Thanks to his playing style (perfect union between classic and modern tennis), his charisma and his experience, Roger has both the possibility and, why not, the duty of instructing young people to become great tennis players, improving their tennis, but also their human, emotional and empathetic side.

If he really becomes captain of Team Europe in the Laver Cup, theb Swiss might be willing to try himself as a tennis coach. Just a dream?
