IF summer wasn’t reason enough to pack your bags for a trip, these fares are.
A budget airline has dropped their “cheapest fares of the year,” with one-way flights to Europe starting at just $79.
Play Airlines has announced its summer sale for its “lowest deal of the year.”
The promotion includes $79 flights to Iceland and $99 flights to Dublin, Berlin, Paris, and London.
While summer is peak travel season, with countries often packed to the brim with crowds, flying during more off-peak travel dates, or “shoulder season,” allows passengers to save more.
The off-peak times include in the fall, right after the summer demand.
Trips between September and November typically allow for fewer crowds and better sights, such as fall foliage.
With the savings they make on airfare, travelers can also splurge more on food, attractions, and souvenirs.
“European travel is hot this summer, and many prices have risen,” said PLAY CEO Einar Örn Ólafsson.
“PLAY always offers affordable fares, and this is our lowest deal yet to bring travel to Iceland and Europe within reach.
“These ‘cooled off’ prices will enable travelers to take advantage of shoulder season, with cooler temperatures and iconic destinations with fewer crowds.
“By spending less on airfare, travelers can unwind by the fireplace of their Dublin bed and breakfast, or grab a croissant by the Eiffel tower without the summer crowds,” the airline said in a statement.
“The tail end of shoulder season is also prime timing to visit Iceland to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights or visit the ‘Land of Fire and Ice’ just in time to experience “the explosion of Yuletide joy.'”
The deal, as part of the airline’s Basic Bundle, includes a small personal item with the price of a ticket.
Travelers from Baltimore, Boston, New York, and Washington DC can take advantage of the promotion from July 2 through July 8.
Flights are valid through the year, with availability until December 15, 2024.
The offer includes all mandatory taxes, fees, and carrier charges and is subject to availability.
Ambitious travelers can even add a second leg to their trip, all while keeping costs low.
“In addition to the deal, travelers can use PLAY’s stayover option to double down on this deal by visiting two destinations for the price of one!” the airline said.
“They can choose to add up to 10 days in Iceland on the departing or returning flight, expanding their travel experience without increasing their flight budget.”
Direct flights to Iceland (KEF) are available from September 2 through December 15.
Direct flights to Iceland (KEF), Dublin (DUB), Berlin (BER), Paris (CDG), and London (STN) are available from September through September 23 and September 25 in the fall.
Winter availability includes November 9, November 11 through November 30, and December 2 through December 15, 2024.
