Beenie Man storms through Europe

Must read

The Doctor, Moses ‘Beenie Man’ Davis, is on a high following a successful start to his Unstoppable Tour.

Hot off last Saturday’s crowd-pumping set at Germany’s Keep It Real Festival, Beenie Man walked into another highly anticipated show at Germany’s Park CafÈ in Wiesbaden on Sunday.

Never disappointing an audience, his powerful set ended with him being added to the CafÈ’s Hall of Fame, among the likes of Frank Sinatra, Charlie Chaplin, Kool and the Gang and Joe. Park CafÈ is the oldest club in Germany, existing for more than 100 years.

The Europe leg of the tour kicked off on July 30 in Holland at the Reggae Rotterdam Festival to an audience of more than 20,000 persons.

“I’ve been doing this for 25 years, and I can’t get over the power of dancehall music. It is a great gift that I have, enuh, and a greater joy to be on tour to share this music,” Beenie Man said.

When asked what city he is most looking forward to performing in, he said. “Johannesburg because of the connection we have with South Africa, and the fight against apartheid. I’ll be meeting with Winnie Mandela, and it will be a great honour to see her a third time. Very few people know the role Mandela played in launching my career, so whenever I am in South Africa, I have to visit the Mandela house,” he said.

Beenie Man also performed at the Rototom Sunsplash European Reggae Festival on August 15, before beginning the Africa leg of his tour.
