Bruno Guimaraes insisted he is ‘happy’ at Newcastle but said the club’s financial position may decide his future amid interest from Arsenal and Manchester City.

Guimaraes has enjoyed another standout season at St. James’ Park, playing a crucial in Eddie Howe’s injury-hit squad that came within a hair’s breadth of securing European football for a second successive season.

The Brazilian international’s long-term future at the club is in doubt, though, with Arsenal and Manchester City just two of the clubs interested in a move for the central midfielder this summer.

In April, Howe confirmed that the 26-year-old has a £100million release clause in his contract, which expires at the end of June, but the club are in danger of having to sell one of their prized assets to help them comply with profit and sustainability rules.

That threat will undoubtedly pique the interest of Europe’s top clubs and Guimaraes himself conceded that the club’s financial position may spell the end for his time at St James’ Park.

‘Look, my future, to be honest, is in God’s hands,’ Guimaraes said in an interview with TNT Sports Brazil.

‘I have a contract with Newcastle, I’m very happy, as I said, I know how much they like me, I know everything I’ve been doing for the club.

‘In short, I have a contract, I’m happy. I don’t know what can happen, we know everything about Financial Fair Play, but what I can say is that I feel happy.’

Arsenal have been a long-time admirer of the central midfielder as they look to fill the shoes of Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny who are both destined to depart this summer.

Manchester City could also make a move, while, on the continent, both Barcelona and Paris-Saint Germain have been linked.

Guimaraes admitted he was flattered by the interest but said he is in no rush to concern himself with his future as he turns his full focus towards the upcoming Copa America with Brazil.

‘Obviously it’s very nice to have your name linked with big clubs, it shows that I’m doing my job well, but I’m not worried about it at all.

‘As I said, I’m happy at the club. I’m very happy, so let’s see what happens. I’m not in any hurry, I’m happy, and it’s up to God, let’s see what happens,’ he said.

‘It was a good season, even though the club had a lot of injuries, a lot of suspensions, in short, I think it was a great season for me, one that will stay in my memory, and I hope to have more seasons like that.’
