The clothing retail chain C&A is continuing its expansion. “We want to open 100 new stores in Europe over the next three years,” said the new head of Germany, Carsten Horn, in response to a dpa enquiry. The “Rheinische Post” had initially reported this.
According to the company, its expansion plans are focussed primarily on Romania, Poland and Italy. New shops are also set to open in Germany in the coming year, including in Hamburg. Horn also sees potential in Berlin and eastern Germany. Further shops are to be opened in Madrid, Amsterdam, Paris and Milan in 2024.Â
The company favours locations close to city centres and in the future Horn wants to focus on a new store concept. “We have strengthened the brand and looked at what customers are looking for. They don’t want to rummage through six floors of masses of textiles, they want to be inspired while shopping and discover new outfits. Less mass on clothes racks, and more stage for fashion.”
C&A currently operates 1300 shops in 17 countries, almost 400 of which are in Germany. According to the company, it has already modernised two thirds of its stores. Most recently, stores in Hamburg, Heilbronn and Singen were newly opened or reopened.
