EUROPE. Luxury goods group LVMH has announced the appointment of Catherine Newey as DFS Group Europe Managing Director, effective 17 June. She will report to the luxury travel retailer’s CEO & Chairman Benjamin Vuchot.
DFS Group is majority controlled by LVMH with the retailer’s Co-Founder Robert Miller still owning a 38.75% stake.
Newey’s current role is Director at LVMH’s Le Bon Marché department store in Paris, where she has spent more than seven years. Earlier in her career she held senior positions with Louis Vuitton (as Accessories Marketing Director), department store group Printemps and Kering.
Vuchot described Newey as having the “perfect profile” to lead the DFS European business and the La Samaritaine and Fondaco dei Tedeschi stores in Paris and Venice. He added: “I am confident that her great sense of leadership will take DFS to higher levels.”
LVMH Selective Retailing Division Chairman and CEO Chris de Lapuente commented: “I am delighted with Catherine’s appointment as Managing Director of DFS Europe. Her promotion illustrates once more the importance given to internal mobility within the Group.
“Thanks to her extensive marketing and retail experience at Louis Vuitton and at Le Bon Marché, she will be well positioned to share retail best practices to elevate the customer experience and strengthen the DFS proposition in Europe.” ✈
