Chelsea are once again looking to bolster their options as another important summer window springs into life.
New manager Enzo Maresca has already been given plenty of new toys to play with so to speak, with Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Omari Kellyman and Tosin Adarabioyo all having arrived at Stamford Bridge this summer.
More moves have been mooted too as the Blues have a fruitful campaign to look forward to, especially after securing UEFA Europa League football for next season.
Olmo release clause ticks down
Dani Olmo continues to be on the radar of the Blues, with his £50 million release clause – which now expires next week after an extension – waiting patiently to be triggered this summer it appears. His terrific displays at Euro 2024 have earned him the hottest ticket to a move away from Germany and he could still be on his way to the Premier League.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Olmo’s representatives are said to be already organising talks with prospective clubs as his future continues to be a hotbed of discussion as we reach a crucial period of the summer window.
football.london says: Olmo would be a tidy addition for the fee required, but would he really give Chelsea anything different than they don’t already have? Dewsbury-Hall is more experienced in the Premier League and therefore will take less time to get up to speed with the English game, we feel.
It’s been a brilliant tournament for the Spaniard but you can’t help thinking that a transfer to somewhere other than Chelsea would be a better move at this stage of his career, though the lure of European football may be all it takes for Maresca to add another new name to his squad.
Karim Adeyemi talks
Karim Adeyemi has been one of the Bundesliga’s most up-and-coming stars for the past 18 months and his performances at Borussia Dortmund certainly didn’t go unnoticed, particularly during their run to the final of the UEFA Champions League.
According to BILD, the German giants are demanding a fee of £25.3 million for Adeyemi, with the Blues said to be preparing to hold talks with him this month. Adeyemi scored five goals and provided two assists in all competitions last season in an injury-hit campaign, so it would be another tidy acquisition.
football.london says: Adeyemi is another player who Chelsea may not need right now given the amount of attacking options already at the club. The Dortmund man can play on either flank or through the middle so his versatility may be one thing Chelsea are looking at as a positive.
Raheem Sterling isn’t getting any younger, admittedly, but you feel as if Noni Madueke showed flashes of brilliance to indicate he is more than capable of talking Maresca’s attack to the next level over the next 12 months at Stamford Bridge.
