Danseuse Sohini Roychowdhury has begun her 2024 Europe tour and will be travelling and performing across Switzerland, Austria, Germany and UK.
“As an artist, when our urge to perform comes from natural surroundings and all its magic, it forges our relationship with art and nature. This time I’ve conceptualised a theme that intertwines nature and us, and the piece has been choreographed with Bharatnatyam mudras and movement. I’ll be touring alpine schools in an attempt to provide children a glimpse of India and its aura through dance and storytelling,” said Sohini, adding, “I’ll try to imbibe a sense of Indian mythology and Shiva as protector of nature in them. I am working with almost 25 schools and universities, and my main aim is to create empathy among the young generation and bridge the cultures of India and Europe.”

Sohini will be performing ShivaShakti themes at her concerts in Austria, Germany and UK, to emphasise on feminism, our ancient philosophies, Vedic knowledge and spirituality.
“I work with children from a young age to postgraduate students and try to communicate with them through dance. I create images of India to connect civilisations … the principle message being Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which means the world is our home. I promote healing through dance workshops, conducted in natural surroundings. As an artiste my aim is to create a better tomorrow with our art by fostering empathy and understanding and more sensitivity towards one another,” concluded Sohini.
