The Danish Football Association will make fans pay a £7,500 fine handed to them after a banner reading ‘f*** UEFA’ was displayed at Euro 2024.

The Danish FA have now been punished as a result – but they say it won’t be them that’s footing the bill.

Director of the Danish FA, Erik Brogger Rasmussen, said, as quoted by The Sun: “We will pay the fine but the most important thing for us is that we identify those who brought the banner in – and then we will pass the bill on to them.

“We hope that those who think of taking a banner with that sort of language on it into a match will think twice when they have to pay for it.”

England were on the receiving end of a UEFA fine when the countries faced off at Euro 2020.

The Football Association received a £26,000 bill for three incidents at Wembley during their semi-final clash.

UEFA took issue with Kasper Schmeichel having a laser shone in his face, disturbances during the national anthems and fireworks being set off.

This tournament, Albania and Serbia’s federations have been fined £8,400 each for fans displaying banners with nationalist maps.

Meanwhile, Albania’s striker Mirlind Daku has been suspended for two games, too.
