England fans caught wearing fake shirts at Euro 2024 in Germany could be fined up to £4,000 due to anti-counterfeit laws.
International football fever is back for England fans with thousands of replica Three Lions shirts set to be bought around the country in time for the start of Euro 2024 next month.
But with the price of the newly released England home and away shirt for the upcoming Euros costing around £85 and a good quality retro shirt sometimes setting fans back hundreds of pounds, the rise in fake shirts is soaring.

While in England, the wearing of fake football shirts isn’t batted an eye at by the law, in Germany there are strict regulations in place. Sports analyst Alex Hemming from Free Bets Ireland warned of the specific laws in Germany to combat the spread of fake goods.
He warned that Germany enforces anti-counterfeiting laws through the German Trademark Act. The Act prohibits the distribution, sale, and possession of fake designer goods. The penalties for carrying counterfeit items can reach up to £4,000. German authorities conduct random checks, especially at major transport hubs.

Fake football shirts appear more common in the international game, with those you rub shoulders with watching the game usually always sporting an England shirt in the sun, and with tournaments coming round every two years, some people are less willing to splash out on brand new authentic kits.
England begin their tournament preparations with a home friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 3 before they host Iceland on June 7. Gareth Southgate will then have to cut his 33-man training squad down to a 26-player roster to take to the finals.
The Three Lions begin Group C against Serbia on June 16 before taking on Denmark on June 20 and Slovenia on June 25.
