England player ratings vs Bosnia: who played themselves onto or off the plane for Euro 2024?

Must read

Jarrod Bowen

Recovered from an early knock and was lively down the right flank, attempting to carry the ball forward when possible and receiving switches of play. Had a couple of chances, one which he hit straight at the keeper. His direct running will be a handful for full-backs in Germany. 6/10
Verdict: Tough decisions in his position. Will rely on form over season

Cole Palmer

Final touch of the evening was his ice-cool penalty. He seems to thrive under pressure. This time last year he was on the fringes at Manchester City and playing for England Under-21s but now he goes into the Euros as one of Southgate’s most in-form players. First start and was put on set-pieces. Was most creative player before the goal. 7/10
Verdict: Boarding pass on its way

Eberechi Eze

Positive first start for the Crystal Palace midfielder, who got on the ball and started early attacks, winning free-kicks in dangerous areas and generally looking busy. Always wanted the ball, even in tight areas and responded well to bumps dished out by physical Bosnian players. Started on left flank but cut in. 6/10
Verdict: Could be a good impact sub

Ollie Watkins

Got through plenty of hard work up front on his own for an hour but when his chance came would have wanted to do better when sent through on goal by Palmer. Showed a threat from set-pieces, getting his head on a couple of corners which went on target. 5/10
Verdict: Boards the plane on weight of goals and assists this season
