Former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen thinks Gareth Southgate should omit Phil Foden for England’s Euro 2024 semi-final with Holland.
“If he keeps doing what he does, with Foden on the left cutting in and Trippier as a left-back, then there will be a massive misbalance,” the Dutchman, speaking on behalf of Free Bets, told Express Sport.
“He’s got certain players. Gordon has done well when he’s come on, Palmer has done well when he’s come on, Eze too. He’s got options.
“If I was Southgate I’d be thinking about getting a better balance and doing something different. Starting without Foden, bringing someone else in to shake things up, and going for it from the start.”
