One side will be seeking redemption.

The other will be vying for a place in history.

This is just the second time thatĀ EnglandĀ has reached the final of the Euro. Its previous final appearance was a heartbreaker. England lost the final in 2021 at home at Wembley Stadium to ItalyĀ in a penalty shootout. Against Spain on Sunday, England is attempting to win its first major international tournament since the 1966 World Cup.

Spain, meanwhile,Ā will attempt to win a record fourth European Championship. A win Sunday against England would break a tie with Germany for the most titles in Euros history. Spain previously won the Euros inĀ 1964, and again in back-to-back tournaments inĀ 2008Ā andĀ 2012Ā (which sandwiched a win at the 2010 World Cup for one of the all-time great championship runs in international soccer history).Ā
