England‘s kit will sport an eye-catching new addition if they beat Spain in tomorrow night’s Euro 2024 final and end almost 60 years of heartbreak.

Gareth Southgate‘s side are bidding to win their first major men’s trophy since 1966 in Berlin after beating the Netherlands in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

They are likely to be the slender underdogs heading into the showdown, having never won a European Championship before, but will look to avenge their agonising penalty shootout defeat by Italy at Euro 2020 on home soil three years ago.

Should they emerge victorious, their iconic strip will take on a different look.

That is because the winner of the tournament is able to add a special badge to their shirt to proudly show off their success – as shown by Italy and Portugal recently.

The Azzurri were afforded the privilege after downing England while Cristiano Ronaldo and Co displayed the crest following their Euro 2016 triumph.

A striking shade of white, the crest features a picture of the trophy and the words ‘UEFA European Champions’, making it the envy of teams across the continent.

Winners are allowed to wear the badge until the start of the next major competition.

Italy sported the emblem until their 2-0 defeat by Austria in November 2022, a spell stretching over 18 months. The crest had disappeared ahead of their next match.

Portugal, meanwhile, kept the badge until the start of the 2018 World Cup.

As a result, should England win tomorrow, their shirts would feature the addition until the World Cup in 2026, hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Ahead of the final, head coach Southgate said: ‘In the end, winning and what that means completely changes how you’re going to be viewed.

‘I want to win so much on Sunday it hurts, don’t get me wrong.

‘But I can handle whatever comes and I know it’s not going to change what the dog thinks when I walk back through the door.’
