The start of the second round of the Euro 2024 group stage didn’t disappoint football fans with a deeply entertaining Croatia-Albania, and another brilliant display by Germany. In the other Group A game, Scotland missed the chance of moving ahead of Switzerland.

Germany 2-0 Hungary: Mannschaft solidly top of Group A

Germany are the first team to qualify for the round of 16 after another convincing victory.

Wonderkid Jamal Musiala scored his second goal in two games to break the deadlock in the first half as Hansi Flick’s side never looked in real trouble and consolidated their lead later during the game.

Hungary are now in trouble with zero points in two games, with the last glimpse of hope left for the final Group A game against Scotland.

Scotland 1-1 Switzerland – Shaqiri’s stunner keeps Switzerland second in Group A

In the other Group A game, Scotland wasted their initial lead with an avoidable defensive mistake that set up Switerzerland’s Xherdan Shaqiri for an amazing equaliser shot.

Switzerland are now second in the group after Germany, with four points, while Scotland’s first point allows them to rank third ahead of Hungary.

Croatia 2-2 Albania – Gjasula redeems own goal with late leveller

Albania and Croatia remain in a precarious situation in Group B after earning only one point each in two games.

In Hamburg, Albania’s early lead got incredibly overturned in two minutes by Croatia, which equalised at 74′ with Andrej Kramarić and then took advantage of an Albanian own goal at 76′ to come past.

In the final chaotic minutes, Albania found the net again at 95′ to break Croatian hearts with their defender Klaus Gjasula, managing to keep the side’s hopes alive for the round-of-16.

The group’s next game will be Italy vs Spain on Thursday at 21.00CET.
