With return flights from the UK costing as little as £30, a coastal town in Poland is gaining a reputation as one of the most affordable spa breaks in Europe – and it’s easy to see why
You don’t need to spend a fortune to treat yourself to a massage with a stunning sea view.
Spa holidays are becoming increasingly popular, as stressed-out Brits opt for a weekend of relaxation and tranquility rather than trekking up a mountain at 5am in the rain to catch the sunrise. But, even an hour of pampering in the UK can cost hundreds of pounds and leave you feeling more tense than before.
However, a coastal town in Poland seems to be offering it all: sandy beaches, cheap booze, affordable spa treatments and syrup-like sunsets.
Poland might not be the first place you picture when you think of a spa getaway, but just 10 minutes away from the stag-do-infiltrated streets of Gdańsk lies Sopot – which travel influencers have dubbed as Europe’s ‘most affordable’ spa break. It attracts millions of tourists every year so isn’t exactly a hidden gem, but is still off the radar for many Brits.
“There are so many spas and spa options to choose from, including one of Poland’s best spas, where you can find this beautiful infinity pool,” said travel TikToker Sandy. ” Plus, it’s a small seaside and I think we can all agree on the healing properties of a two-hour sunset cruise for only £25 per person.”
Sandy added that around Sopot you will find fountains offering samples of ‘healing brine water’ which you can drink diluted or simply inhale from the free stations in the street.
Mera Spa is the acclaimed spa she referenced: here, you can enjoy a 30-minute back massage in front of the sea for around £42, or indulge in an hour-and-a-half ritual featuring a salt peel, body mask, and full body massage for £83. Other facilities include an infinity pool, outdoor hot tubs, a sauna, yoga classes, and much more.

While Sopot doesn’t have an airport, it’s extremely close to the popular city of Gdańsk – which you can easily get to from the UK. There are a slew of direct flights from airports including Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Newcastle, Luton and Stansted – and it only takes around two hours to get there.
If you’re flexible with dates, you can grab a steal – with return flights in September starting from £31. After landing in Gdańsk, you can hop on a ten-minute bus ride which can cost as little as £1.90. If you’re travelling as a group, you can always splurge on a taxi, which will cost around £12.
Accommodation in Sopot varies depending on your budget. A three-night stay for a family of three in a three-star hotel with a sauna and child’s play area will set you back £227 (from September 4-7) – whereas a four-star spa hotel with free access to a swimming pool and hot tub costs £523 on the same dates.
