Germany v Denmark score LIVE: Euro 2024 updates as goal ruled out

20 mins: Denmark are really struggling to get a foothold in the match. When they get up the pitch Germany’s defensive line is on top of them quickly and there’s little room for the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen to operate.

It’s tough going but they’re slowly starting to settle.

17 mins: Christian Eriksen gets the chance to work the ball into the box from a free kick. He only pings it to Kai Havertz who clears the danger then feeds Leroy Sane for the counter attack.

Sane can’t get around Alexander Bah so cuts inside and wins a free kick after Andreas Christensen brings him down.

Toni Kroos takes the free kick and goes for goal but only hits the effort into the wall.

14 mins: Jamal Musiala shoots from range but pulls the effort wide. Germany are splitting Denmark apart with cross field passes, quick runs and shots galore.

It’s been a hurried start for the Danes who are trying to find a touch of composure.

Kai Havertz rolls off the shoulder of Jaochim Andersen and sprints into the box as the ball is flicked over the top. The German striker hits a decent effort at goal but Kasper Schmeichel drops to the left and uses his body to turn the ball wide of the target.

Denmark are under the cosh here.

8 mins: Another corner from Toni Kroos finds Nico Schlotterbeck who nods another effort at goal. Kasper Schmeichel takes no chances this time and flaps it wide of the far post.

The resultant corner is then cleared by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

5 mins: The goal is ruled out on the field by the referee who saw an infringement in the box. The defender marking Schlotterbeck was apparantly stopped from doing his job so the goal doesn’t stand.

Seems a harsh decision based on the replays.

4 mins: David Raum brings down an aerial pass and touches the ball into the box. Alexander Bah manages to recover and pokes the ball out for a corner.

The corner is whipped into the box where Nico Schlotterbeck leaps above everyone else. He meets the ball and powers it into the back of the net!

But, will this goal stand?

3 mins: Christian Eriksen looks to get Joakim Maehle forward on the left wing for Denmark but Maehle is clattered by Antonio Rudiger who takes the ball and fizzes a pass into Ilkay Gundogan to get Germany moving forward once more.

Germany get the ball rolling for this last-16 tie. They work the ball over the right wing and slip it forward to Leroy Sane. He weaves into the box and squeezes off a cross but Denmark defend it well.

Christian Eriksen looks focused and determined ahead of this one. It’s going to be a tough ask for Denmark to get past the hosts this evening but if they play as they did against England they are well in with a chance of winning.

Germany will want to avoid an upset. As the hosts they’ll be hoping to go far in this tournament.
