Huge US singer banks millions singing at billionaire’s wedding

Must read

THE last time Katy Perry performed in Europe it was at King Charles’s Coronation Concert last May.

But this week she is returning to this side of the Atlantic to entertain someone even wealthier — Asia’s richest man.

I’ve learned the star is jetting to Cannes in the South of France to sing at a masquerade ball on Friday night.

It is part of the wedding celebrations for the son of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, who is worth a cool £90billion.

The I Kissed A Girl singer is being paid millions to perform a short set at the event for Anant Ambani and his bride Radhika Merchant.

And this isn’t even their actual wedding.

It is merely a pre-marriage celebration — and is a stop-off during a cruise around Europe which they have laid on for 800 guests, including a host of Bollywood stars.

Now that really is a big blow-out.

It comes just three months after Rihanna received £5million to perform at their first pre-wedding bash in India, which lasted three days and was attended by Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates.

The happy couple will eventually get married in July, so I dread to think what extra stops they will pull out then.

My insider said: “They have invited 800 guests who are currently on a space-themed cruise around Europe, with stops in Barcelona and Genoa.

“It will arrive in Cannes on Friday for the big bash, which will be at a £40million estate.

“The party itself will only last five hours but Katy will headline it, with a DJ also being flown in as part of the top-tier entertainment.

“Afterwards, guests will watch a huge fireworks display from a small armada of ships waiting in the Bay of Cannes.

“When they say there’s been no expense spared, they really mean it.”

Weddings are hugely costly at the best of times, without luxury cruises, headline concerts with the world’s biggest stars and numerous events to contend with.

Oh, how the other half live .
