Iberia and Volaris Will Codeshare to Expand Connectivity Between Europe and Mexico
Iberia and Volaris have announced a comprehensive codeshare agreement aimed at boosting connectivity between Europe and Mexico. This strategic partnership will enable customers from Europe to access 25 additional destinations within Mexico operated by Volaris, while passengers from these Mexican destinations will be able to connect seamlessly with Iberia flights between Mexico City and Madrid.
Enhanced Travel Options
This codeshare agreement significantly enhances travel options for passengers. Iberia, which has already deployed record capacity this year to strengthen the link between Europe and Mexico, will offer three daily flights on this route. This translates to over 772,000 seats annually, a 17% increase compared to 2019. The route is operated entirely with the A350, Iberia’s largest and most efficient aircraft, featuring 348 seats across Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins.
María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Commercial, Clients and Network and Alliances Development Director, highlighted the importance of this partnership:
“With this collaboration agreement we reaffirm our commitment to Mexico, one of our main markets. It allows us to offer better connectivity to all customers who travel to Mexico with Iberia, at the same time as we make it easier for all passengers from Mexico to travel to Europe in a more comfortable and efficient way.”
Streamlined Booking and Operational Efficiency
Under the terms of the agreement, Iberia will add its code to flights operated by Volaris, ensuring that passengers can book their entire journey on a single ticket. This streamlines the booking process and enhances operational efficiency, simplifying travel for passengers and reducing complexities for both airlines.
Holger Blankenstein, Executive President of Volaris, expressed enthusiasm for the new alliance:
“By signing this codeshare agreement with Iberia we offer passengers a greater range of options to explore Mexico. This alliance will expand connectivity via Mexico City, reaching 25 national destinations within our network. Our goal is to continue offering improved connectivity options, further enriching the travel experience for more people.”
