Iberia clinched the premier accolade for Best Airline Staff Service in Europe at the esteemed 2024 World Airline Awards. The ceremony took place at the renowned Fairmont Windsor Park in London, under the auspices of Skytrax, the global air transport rating agency.
Dubbed “the Oscars of the aviation industry” by global media, the awards celebrate outstanding service across all aspects of frontline customer interactions. María Jesús López Solás, the Director of Commercial, Clients, Network Development and Alliances, accepted the award on behalf of all employees during today’s ceremony in London.
María Jesús López Solás, Commercial, Clients, Network Development And Alliances Director, said: “It is a true honour to receive this award for excellence in the service we provide. It represents well-deserved recognition for all the people who make up Iberia, especially those who take care of our customers, both on board our planes and at the airport. From those who design our products and improve them every day, to those who work closely with our passengers: passenger cabin crew, pilots, and the ground staff, which is now part of South, the IAG Group’s new handling business.”
Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, remarked, “Iberia’s triumph in securing the Best Airline Staff Service in Europe award is an exceptional feat. This accolade is a testament to the exemplary dedication of all front-line Iberia personnel, both at airports and on flights. It distinctly highlights the significant enhancements in quality that Iberia has implemented over the past year.”
The Best Airline Staff Service awards commend exceptional performance across all customer-facing service points, valuing efficiency, friendliness, hospitality, language proficiency, and consistency among airline staff.
The 2024 World Airline Awards
Initiated in 1999, the World Airline Awards stand as an entirely neutral and unbiased entity, aiming to conduct a comprehensive global customer satisfaction evaluation. The largest airline passenger satisfaction survey globally invites travelers to vote for the winners, earning the awards their nickname, “the Oscars of the aviation industry”.
The survey, available in six languages—English, French, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese—ran from September 2023 to May 2024. It targeted both new participants and prior respondents from its extensive database. Over 100 nationalities contributed to the 2023/2024 survey, with 21.42 million qualified responses considered in the final tally. Strict screening processes were applied to filter out any duplicate or ineligible submissions, ensuring integrity. The survey culminated with more than 350 airlines being ranked in the award results.
