Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, one of the last DreamWorks home video releases distributed by Paramount, topped the national sales charts its first week in stores, debuting at No. 1 on both Nielsen VideoScan’s First Alert chart, which tracks overall disc sales, and Nielsen’s dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart.

Making a surprisingly strong showing was the political documentary 2016: Obama’s America, from Lionsgate, which despite a DVD-only release and a limited theatrical run debuted at No. 4 on the overall disc sales chart, two spots ahead of fellow newcomer Universal Studios’ Moonrise Kingdom, a romantic comedy that earned $45.5 million in theaters and stars Bruce Willis.

Twentieth Century Fox’s Prometheus, which bowed at No. 1 on both charts the previous week, slipped to No. 2 on both charts for the week ending Oct. 21.

The studio’s Blu-ray 3D reissue of Avatar snagged a No. 5 debut on First Alert and a No. 4 bow on the Blu-ray Disc chart.
