Westlife, The Corrs and Maria Carey are in London for the launch of the sixth MTV Europe Music Awards.
Westlife and The Corrs are among the stars attending the MTV Europe Music Awards nomination ceremony in London.
The MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) will take place in Ireland at The Point on 11 November 1999 with a potential television audience of over one billion people. Boyzone star Ronan Keating is confirmed as the host of the awards ceremony.
Boyzone are nominated for three awards and Westlife, managed by Ronan Keating, have been nominated in the best breakthrough act category and best UK and Ireland act.
While not nominated, The Corrs are one of the acts that will perform live during the show. Among the other guest acts on the bill are Iggy Pop, Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Marilyn Manson and The Cardigans.
Those presenting awards on the night include Pierce Brosnan, Gary Barlow and Eternal.
President and chief executive officer of MTV Networks Europe Bret Hansen says they have always wanted to do the show from Dublin however,
We haven’t been able to do it up until now because there haven’t been enough hotel rooms.
Executive producer of the MTV EMAs Richard Godfrey is determined to stage the best awards show ever and is confident it will look fantastic for those watching the broadcast live on MTV.
