Bali-based rock band Navicula is set to tour Europe.
Tempo.co reported that from Oct. 4-17, the band will play nine shows in Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic. “It is an honor for Navicula to play a part in promoting Indonesia through our music,” said Gede Robi, the band’s singer and guitarist.
For Navicula’s first stop in Germany, the band will play at an Indonesian culture festival, Pasar Hamburg. The festival features a number of art programs, such as dance performances, literature discussions, art and photography exhibitions and film screenings.
Navicula will then continue the tour with Siasat Trafficking, a program from Siasat Partikelir, a creative collective aiming to present stories of youth movements and changes utilizing varied media platforms.

During the tour, Navicula will collaborate with fellow Balinese artist Kuncir Sathya Viku, who will interpret the band’s songs into visual art. Robi said the band was excited to tell the world about its ninth album, Earthship, released on Monday. “It is high time for [local artists] to show Indonesia to the ‘outside’ world,” he added.
The tour is also supported by outdoor equipment company Eiger, Bali-based production house Akarumput and non-profit organization Kopernik.
Navicular is comprised of Robi, guitarist Dadang Pranoto, drummer Palel Atmoko and supporting bassist Krishna Adipurba.
In March, the band lost its bass player, I Made Indra, who died in a fatal accident in Bali. (wng)
