PM Viktor Orbán founded a new European political group called Patriots for Europe, which will “change European politics”, according to the PM. Now, a new party is joining the group.

Viktor Orbán announced on X (Twitter) that the Spanish VOX party is also joining the Patriots for Europe group, which was announced by Fidesz, the Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) and the Czech ANO over the weekend.
The eurosceptic Spain VOX party won 6 seats in the June elections. This further increased their chances of forming an independent group in the European Parliament, which requires 23 MEPs from 7 countries, 444.hu reports.
The far-right VOX will leave the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group and join the Patriots for Europe group, hvg.hu reports, according to a statement by the party’s president, Santiago Abascal.

The members of the Patriots for Europe group are so far the following:
- Fidesz (Hungary, founding member)
- Austrian Freedom Party (Austria, founding member)
- ANO (Czech Republic, founding member)
- Chega (Portugal, indicated to join)
- VOX (Spain, indicated to join)
Although Poland’s Law and Justice and Germany’s AfD do not seem to be joining, there is a chance that Marine Le Pen’s National Rally could still join after the French elections, 444.hu writes.
