I’m here at a fanzone in Brixton where eager fans have been queueing since before 16.00 BST. Spaces are a premium here in the capital, with the 1,000 or so tickets at this particular venue selling out within two minutes.
For those lucky to cop some tickets, they’re starting early. But among these keen punters are a mixture of feelings ahead of tonight.
Max, 27 from Oval has just downed a beer in front of me and I think it’s buoyed his confidence: “England will win tonight and I’ve never been so sure about anything in my life.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool fan James – who’s at the front of the queue, is still haunted by the last Euros where England lost on penalties: “tonight could be the night but I’ll be devastated if we lose again.”
Let’s see what happens. Either way, it’s going to be a big night.
