ROLAND-GARROS SMASHES ITS RECORD AUDIENCE IN EUROPE FOLLOWING WEEK ONE ON MAX, DISCOVERY+ AND LINEAR

Eurosport today reveals its coverage of the first week of Roland-Garros has secured record audiences on its streaming platforms and has delivered its highest tournament television audience on its linear networks in eight years.

Across Europe (excluding France), Eurosport’s production of Roland-Garros continues to drive strong tune-in. Viewership on Eurosport’s linear television channels has risen by +45% year-on-year with WBD’s total streaming audience, including discovery+, increasing by more than a quarter (+26% vs 2023). This has been boosted further by the launch of Max in 20 countries across Europe where customers are already enjoying access to every match live and on-demand alongside premier TV shows, fresh and iconic movies, unmissable sports, and flagship TV networks.

Many markets have reported double digit growth in streaming after eight days of action including the UK (+96%), Germany (+59%), Netherlands (+31%), Norway (+23%) and Italy (+21%) driven by the strong performances of key local heroes such as Italy’s Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner, Germany’s Olympic gold medallist Alexander Zverev, as well as Dutch player Tallon Griekspoor.

WBD’s all-platform approach, which sees it produce world-class coverage and content from the most iconic clay court tennis tournament for free-to-air, PayTV, streaming, online and social channels, has also contributed to rising engagement on its free digital platforms. Telling the stories of the players on and off the court, double digit increases in visitors (+16%) to local language Eurosport.com pages is mirrored by growth in users consuming free video online video views (+18%).

Exclusive coverage of Roland-Garros continues across Europe every day on Max, discovery+ and Eurosport with the women’s and men’s singles finals expected to take place from 15:00 CET on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June respectively.

As the Home of the Olympics in Europe, WBD will return to serve up every match from Paris 2024 across Max, discovery+ and Eurosport with the action beginning from Stade Roland-Garros on 27 July.
