Ryanair has issued an urgent warning to anyone with flights booked to mainland Europe amid severe weather. The budget airline has issued an update for anyone planning to travel on Thursday, June 27 and Friday, June 28.
Those with flights booked on these dates are being urged to check for updates that their booking is not affected. The warning is a result of widespread thunderstorms that reach as far as North Africa, Spain, France, Denmark, Poland, Greece, Romania and further beyond.
A weather map shared by Ryanair shows that this weather is not set to impact the UK, but will affect flights to and from these destinations.
In a statement shared today, Ryanair said: “Due to thunderstorm activity across the network on Thurs 27/Fri 28 June, we advise passengers travelling on these days of potential for significant disruption to flights.
“We are working hard to keep disruption to a minimum, but passengers affected by these thunderstorms will be notified via the Ryanair App. We encourage all passengers travelling with us today or tomorrow to keep an eye on the app for the latest updates on their flight.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to passengers by these adverse weather conditions, which are completely outside of Ryanair’s control.”

Travellers who have a flight cancelled have rights and should take a number of steps if their trip does not go ahead. As well as keeping in the loop with your flight through its airline website, it is crucial that the airline’s customer service is contacted as soon as the flight has been cancelled.
Airline rules for flight cancellations may differ and it is recommended that all communication with the carrier is documented in the case that compensation is sought.
Anyone who has flown with Ryanair will know that the airline enforces strict hand luggage rules. Many travellers have been caught out at the departing gate when their bag doesn’t meet specific dimensions.
Luckily, there are bags available that can be stowed under the seat, while promising plenty of space. Daily Record journalist Nicola Roy tested out an £11 Amazon Narwey Cabin Bag (now down to £9.99) by using it as her luggage for a four day trip and said it holds enough clothes for a “serial over-packer”.
