Samsung was Europe’s biggest smartphone brand in Q1 2024

Canalys has just published research about Europe’s smartphone market in Q1 2024, and there’s some really good news about Samsung in it.

According to the firm, Samsung shipped the highest number of smartphones in Europe last quarter, which was 12.1 million units, giving it a market share of 37%. Compared to Q1 2023, Samsung shipped 0.3 million additional smartphones in Q1 2024. That’s a 2% increase in annual growth. That’s not a lot but still on the positive side.

In second place was Apple, which shipped 7.3 million smartphones and had a 22% market share. Xiaomi came in third, with 5.4 million shipments and a 16% market share, whereas, Motorola came in fourth with 2.1 million shipments and a 6% market share. In the last place was Honor, with 1 million shipments and a 3% market share.

According to Canalys, the Galaxy S24 series helped Samsung to achieve those numbers which was “aided by a large marketing investment highlighting Galaxy AI alongside significant trade-in and bundling promotions”. Reportedly, the company shipped 4.3 million units of the Galaxy S series smartphones last quarter, which is quite a lot.
