Scotland head coach Steve Clarke has named his provisional 28-man squad for this summer’s Euros, with uncapped players Ben Doak and Ross McCrorie getting the nod.
Liverpool’s Doak has not played since December due to a knee injury which required surgery but has impressed with the Scotland Under-21 side. McCrorie made 19 appearances for Bristol City, while James Forrest, scorer of six goals for Celtic this season, returns after nearly three years.Â
Norwich defender Grant Hanley and Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack have been included despite their recent lack of game time at club level following injuries but wing backs Aaron Hickey and Nathan Patterson miss out.
Clarke will cut the squad down to 26 before Uefa’s June 7 deadline, but one player he will definitely be without now is Lyndon Dykes after the striker sustained an injury in training that has ruled him out of the Euros. Read more here.
The Scots came through qualifying with two games to spare to finish second in their group behind Spain but have since gone on a seven-game winless run.Â
They are set to play warm-up games against Gibraltar (June 3) and Finland (June 7) before beginning their Euros campaign against hosts Germany in the opening match of the entire competition.
