But in progressing to the final, Spain became the first nation in Euros history to win six matches in a single tournament.

This came after they won their three group stage matches against Croatia, Italy and Albania, before beating Georgia, Germany and now France on their way to the final.

Not only are they the first side to win six games, but they’ve also done it in consecutive games – a record that could be stretched to seven if they win the final.

Randal Kolo Muani gave France an early lead following some good work from Kylian Mbappe, before a wonderstrike from Lamine Yamal made it 1-1.

The goal from the Barcelona talent made him the youngest goalscorer ever in an international tournament (16y 362d), beating the previous record set by Pele (17y 239d vs Wales at the 1958 World Cup).

Dani Olmo the put Spain 2-1 up just four minutes later as his low drive deflected in-off Jules Kounde.

The match also saw Mbappe approached by an ambitious pitch invader who tried to get a picture with the now-Real Madrid star.

In doing so, Olmo became the first Spanish player to be involved in 5+ goals at a single major tournament (3 goals, 2 assists) since David Silva at EURO 2012 (2 goals, 3 assists).

That year, Spain came out victorious and they’ll be hoping that they can do the same again this year.

Spain will now face either England or the Netherlands in Sunday’s Euro 2024 final in Berlin – a clash that will be live on talkSPORT.
