Sri Sri Ravi Shankar meets Iceland PM Benediktsson; discuss mental health, peace situation in Europe – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Global Peace Ambassador and founder of Art of Living Foundation Sri Sri Ravi Shankar met with Iceland’s Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson in Reykjavik on Monday.

They discussed the significance of mental health as the foundation for individual and societal well-being, as well as the current situation in Europe during their bilateral meeting, as per a press release.


“Their meeting focused on the current peace situation in Europe, the need to address mental health issues, and on the importance of putting individual wellbeing at the core for societal prosperity,” the release stated.

Additionally, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar shared information about the Art of Living Foundation’s work, which utilizes proven meditation and breathing techniques to help individuals overcome stress, tension, and anxiety, promoting overall physical and mental well-being.



Meanwhile, he also mentioned the ‘Breathe Smart’ programme in Denmark, which aims to rehabilitate prisoners and gang members by reducing the cycle of violence and drug addiction among offenders, fostering inner peace and a sense of care for one another.



Sri Sri Ravi Shankar also praised PM Benediktsson for Iceland’s efforts in tackling climate change, highlighting that nearly all of Iceland’s electricity production is generated from renewable sources.

The press release further stated that Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s visit to Iceland followed meetings and keynote speeches at events at the United Nations in Geneva.
