Taylor Swift’s American fans are furious about concert experience in Europe

Must read

Taylor Swift fans who traveled to Europe from the U.S. to see her Eras tour were less than impressed with the setup of the arena show.

Social media influencer Jenny Berger took to TikTok, where she has almost 134,000 followers, to complain about her experience at Swift’s shows in Lisbon, Portugal. Swift commenced the European leg of her record-breaking tour earlier this month and it has been plagued by problems, including ticket issues and COVID concerns.

Berger and her friends were not happy when people with general admission tickets were able to push their way into the VIP section of the arena.

“Update, we’re pretty p*****,” Berger began in the since deleted video, which was re-shared on X, formerly Twitter.

She explained how they were in the “VIP 1” section, which is one of five available VIP options and is called: “It’s Been a Long Time Coming VIP package.” For around $845 in the U.S. and €539 in Portugal ($585), fans get a reserved floor ticket, special edition set of four Taylor Swift prints, which are designed exclusively for VIPs, priority check-in, a separate entrance, early venue entry and crowd-free VIP merchandise shopping.

Other perks included exclusive merchandise such as a commemorative Eras tote bag, a Swift pin, sticker and postcard set, a souvenir concert ticket and an LED tour laminate that also functions as an interactive wearable at the show.

“We paid a s*** ton for our ticket and general admin is pushing us around,” Berger continued and also videoed her section and pointed out those she believed were not VIP ticket holders. “They paid $300 less for their ticket and they’re standing in front of us.”

“I didn’t expect this, and I’m sorry we paid way too much for this, why are we not roped off? I just don’t get it.”

Newsweek contacted Berger by email for comment.

The video was shared to X where it was viewed around 2.4 million times, with people sharing their thoughts on what happened.

“There’s nothing better than seeing gringas at the Erasshows in Europe. Let them go to the shows in Gringolandia and leave us in peace,” wrote @heartsdaylight.

Another X user described how in a different video Berger allegedly described the Portuguese concert goers as “savages” and a man there told her “to go back to her country.”

“The audacity to go to countries in LATAM (Latin America), Europe and Asia where Taylor has never been but they (Americans) have 50 dates [to go to] and still criticize people here. God, I hate them,” added @gettaywaycar.

Others pointed out that it was much cheaper to attend the Eras tour in Europe than in the U.S.
