With more than 25 years of experience in the luxury sector, Gentile has spent three years at Chloé, as CCO. Prior to this he spent 12 years at Burberry from 2008 to 2020, in various executive roles including European CFO, COO of its EMEIA division, and president of EMEIA. He also worked at Kering for 10 years, with eight of these as CFO of Italian footwear brand Sergio Rossi.

Theory said the appointment had come at a “key moment for the brand as it continues to expand its digital and retail footprint in the region”.

The brand, which was founded in 1997, has headquarters in both New York and London, the latter of which will serve as a base for Gentile, whose new role is effective immediately.

Theory has recently opened stores in London’s Covent Garden, Battersea Power Station and Regent Street.

Theory global CEO Dinesh Tandon said: “His wealth of experience in the luxury space in this market will be pivotal as we focus on continued growth and expansion in the region.”

Gentile added: “Theory is an iconic brand with a storied reputation and history in the US and beyond. I’m looking forward to working with the teams in the UK and Europe to continue to identify a strategic vision for this important pillar of growth for the brand.”
